Three AI chatbots were asked for one stock to buy this week, and each came back with a different company from a different corner of the market. ChatGPT chose GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE), Grok chose Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Claude chose Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE:VLO).

The picks share one thread. All three companies report quarterly results before Friday’s close, and every bot built its case around the print.

Each chatbot received the same 10-part prompt on Monday morning, asking for a top pick, a catalyst, a thesis, key data, the biggest risk, a trade plan with entry, target and stop, a confidence score, two runner-ups and sources.

The Picks at a Glance:

Bot Top pick Catalyst Price cited Weekly target Stop Confidence
ChatGPT GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) Q3 earnings, Tue., Oct. 20, before the open $313.83 $330 (+5.2%) $299 (-4.7%) 6/10
Grok Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) Q3 earnings, Tue., Oct. 20, after the close $70.53 76-78 (+7.8% to +10.6%) $66 (-6.4%) 7/10
Claude Valero Energy Corp. (NYSE:VLO) Q3 earnings, Thu., Oct. 22, before the open $444.71 $472 (+6.1%) $426 (-4.2%) 6/10
Percentages measure each target and stop against the price the bot cited.

ChatGPT: GE Aerospace

ChatGPT framed GE’s Tuesday report as a near-term catalyst following last week’s market weakness. The bot pointed to four straight quarters of earnings beats and broadly bullish analyst coverage, with aerospace demand still a core investment theme.

According to ChatGPT, GE was up 1.88% year to date as of Oct. 16, with a 52-week range of $268.91 to $388.84 and a neutral 14-day RSI of 46.08. The bot cited a Bernstein Outperform reiteration on Oct. 16 and a Deutsche Bank price-target cut to $377 on Oct. 13.

The biggest risk, in ChatGPT’s view, is disappointing guidance or softer engine-service demand sparking a post-earnings selloff. The bot suggested an entry between $310 and $316.

Grok: Netflix

Grok took the contrarian route. Netflix is down about 25% year to date and trades near the bottom of a 52-week range of $65.08 to $124.86, according to Benzinga Pro market data.

The bot argued a beaten-down, heavily traded name reporting first among this week’s big tech companies sets up for a sharp rebound on a beat.

Grok cited an options-implied move of about 9.5% in either direction, consensus EPS near $0.82 and momentum in the ad-supported tier. Soft ad metrics, slower engagement or cautious guidance top its risk list.

Grok was the most confident of the three, scoring its pick a 7 out of 10.

Claude: Valero

Claude went to energy, the sector leading Friday’s session while tech lagged. Claude noted Reuters reporting based on Vortexa data showing Iran’s seaborne crude exports at zero in September and into October.

Tight supply, in Claude’s reading, points to strong refining margins in the quarter Valero will report. A Thursday morning release also leaves two full sessions to trade the results before Friday.

The main risk, according to Claude, is a U.S.-Iran de-escalation headline. WTI crude was already down about 2% Monday morning, and a slide in oil could hit refiners before Thursday.

Where the Bots Overlap

No stock was a top pick twice, but three names showed up on two lists each:

  • Netflix: Grok’s top pick and Claude’s No. 3.
  • Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA): No. 2 for both ChatGPT and Grok, ahead of Q3 results Wednesday, Oct. 21.
  • Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META): No. 3 for ChatGPT and No. 2 for Claude, also reporting Wednesday. Claude framed the report as a test of AI spending after the Nasdaq’s 4.5% weekly drop.

Grok rounded out its list with Lam Research Corp. (NASDAQ:LRCX), which reports fiscal first-quarter results Wednesday after the close, citing demand for AI wafer-fab equipment.

What Comes Next

The scorecard fills in fast. GE reports Tuesday before the bell and Netflix after it, and Valero follows Thursday morning.
